The 401k Rollover Secret for Investors

"The research performed by Port Wren Capital has allowed me to invest into the stock market comfortably and profitably. The difference between most services and Port Wren Capital is that they are only providing research and not handling my money in the market." Josh B.

"I agree, Top Pick for 2016 and beyond." Leo B.

"The drastic drop in oil must be forcing some firms to liquidate other positions, good positions, like being long BHI. Down here at $47.80 is a true gift. I'll be buying more if it remains this low." Tony M.

"THE best article on GILD in a long time!!!" Charles V.

If you are like most people, you have an old 401k, 403b Retirement Plan collecting dust somewhere or even losing money. Most plans offered by employers are made up of a defined and restricted group of ETF or Mutual Fund products. Each employer negotiates with a financial institution every few years to determine their offerings and prices. That is why as you change companies you notice the differences between plans even though it may be with the same financial institution as I've seen. It may or may not being beating inflation and you are probably paying monthly administrative fees. One of our clients had an old 403b Retirement Plan for seven years and lost money in the Mutual Funds while paying monthly fees the entire time. She was upset with the plan for years but had no alternative and was looking for a better option. We had another client who had an old 401k at an old employer that was going to just move it into another one at her new job until we informed her about the advantages of a Self-Directed IRA.

In both cases, Port Wren Capital, LLC were able to help them. Both rolled over their old plans into a Self-Directed IRA and started investing in US publicly traded individual stocks using our investment research. They are already seeing much higher gains compared to their old restricted Retirement Plans and without the monthly fees.

Most people are not aware of Self-Directed IRAs and their advantages over a traditional 401k or 403b Retirement Plans. If you have either of these or other types of Retirement Plans like a Regular IRA, Roth IRA, SEP-IRA and you have changed jobs, you could move the funds into a Self-Directed IRA. They offer more benefits than just leaving it alone. Self-Directed IRAs offer more control, less administrative fees, as well as, a much wider selection of better investment options. One of the greatest benefits is that you can invest in a large number of different investment products. You are no longer restricted to what that one employer 's 401k plan offers. You can invest in U.S. publicly traded individual stocks, bonds, ETFs, International Funds, International Stocks, Mutual Funds, Index Funds and others of which there are thousands. However, just because the Self-Directed IRA allows you to invest in nearly anything within it does not mean the institution that holds it will agree.

With most plans, you can put aside larger amounts of money before tax which reduces your tax burden now while you are in a higher tax bracket and gives you more to invest. Also, you benefit from the power of compounding of about 40 years which really adds up. Typically, there are no monthly fees since you are now in control. And your gains are all tax free just like with a traditional plan.

There are some details involved in the process that must be followed closely to avoid unnecessary taxes and potential penalties. But, we can help you stay clear of all those items.

And in retirement use the proceeds with the freedom you would get with a traditional IRA. When you retire, you pay taxes when you are in a much lower tax bracket. Naturally with a Roth you pay the taxes upfront and not after you retire. With all these advantages why would not take advantages of a Self-Directed IRA? So contact us to learn how you can rollover your old 401k or other plan and start seeing the many benefits.
